The Blogs I Read; Why I Read Them… [Part one]
I read many blogs on a daily basis.
Many touching on various topics.
Others have changed my way of looking at things.
While most have made me laugh to no end.
Today I shall list a few of my favorite blogs and the reasons why I read them.
Bikozulu
If you haven’t read this blog, then I don’t know what you are reading. Seriously. I will forgive you if you at least say you read the ‘Man Talk’ column that appears on the Saturday magazine of the Daily Nation newspaper. Yes? Good. One thing that drew me to love Biko’s writing was his style and way of telling stories. This guy can write an article about a simple pencil and I can bet it will draw [no pun intended] a series of emotions. Captivating writing, interesting stories and an intelligent way of stringing words makes me love this blog to bits. I have shed tears of sadness while reading some of his posts and laughed my head off at others. The fact that he appreciates his readers in this post including yours truly, he definitely makes his blog one of my most favourite. Go here and get busy acquainting yourself with his blog.
Wiselar’s Blog
I stumbled upon this young man’s blog when it appeared on Zuqka a few weeks ago. I can’t locate the link. I love his writing because it’s raw and sincere. It appears that he started blogging recently which is a good thing. Makes me wonder where he was hiding all this time. Most of his experiences shared through some of his posts are so similar to what I’ve gone through in life. It comforts me to know that I’m not alone. I keep checking my reader to see what post he has unleashed. Read him here.
The Diary of a Kenyan Campus Girl
Now if there’s anyone who makes me remember about my campus days with nostalgia is this girl. I totally identify with this blog. I guess most people do.
Her stories are quite entertaining from the drama she has found herself in from time to time. She recently finished her last exams and is no longer a Campus Girl. I wonder whether she will start a new blog. For more of her stories, please head here.
Day 1
This right here is a deep blog. Really. In every sense of the word. I admit I have never commented on it, but I have read each and every post this young lady has ever written. Every time I read her posts, I’m compelled to think deep and hard about my life and life in general. I love the way she opens up a lot about her life in her blog that in most cases speaks directly to me. So sincere and true. Her tag line reads…‘ From the girl who is learning to embrace her imperfections…’ I love it.
I Just Said That?!
Her’s a fairly new blog having lost her blogirnity [blogging virginity] a couple of months ago. I like her no beating about the bush kind of writing. She tells it as it is. Period. In this blog she shares some pretty deep stories about her personal life that have gotten me wailing like a toddler. Her sad stories do not fail to pull at a chord in my heart and her funny stories get me laughing out loud. She signs off all her posts with , ‘Yes, I just said that!’ and I always imagine she snaps her fingers three time after that. Haha! Read this and tell me if you don’t think so.
Diary of a Kenyan Mom
If you are looking for a SuperMom, head right HERE! I repeat, if you’re looking for a SUPERMOM, head right HERE! Really. I kid you not. She makes parenting seem so easy with her funny stories. Her take on various aspects of life is interesting too. I love reading her posts as they always leave me smiling. You don’t believe me? Read this and tell me you don’t like it and I’ll show you a first class liar.
Magaribina’s Blog
This lady, puts the M in Magaribina. Have you read her blog here? Have you? Well this is also one of my favorites though I may not have put my comments on it yet. She amazes me and I’d really like to meet her one of these fine days. Her sense of humour is like no other. She sounds pretty cool and witty. I can bet she is no techie but she can give quite a review about a Nokia phone and computer stories that will leave you in stitches. I bet you didn’t know she teaches people to cook Ugali. I swear. If you don’t find the Ugali 101 lesson in this blog, shoot me. Ps. Magaribina, don’t pull down the post just yet, my life is at stake here
Archer
Someone spell drama….Archer! If there’s anyone with more drama than this guy on any given day, raise your hand. *Looks around, sees no hands raised*. This guy’s blog is H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S!!!!! I kid you not. It’s amazing that one person could get involved in so many escapades. He has a way with words that keep you glued to the story from the beginning to the end. He says he’s ….‘your regular dose of 5 bob opinions’. Trust me, he is! His posts have been plagiarized through the inter-webs because he is THAT good. Good stuff!
Me I LOve NAirobi REgardless – Milonare
Milo. What can I say about Milo’s blog really. Pure ENTERTAINMENT! How he does it, I don’t know. But this blog ranks up high in my entert-ometer for sure. It appears he has had more drama with women than an average guy and from his stories it’s clear that he is an African man who loves his beer
*Raises a glass* He has a cool style of writing and unique language that spells brilliance and wit. He asks on his tag line, ‘What’s life if it’s not worth a laugh?’. It would be drab and boring I would imagine. I vote this blog as the most humorous blog in blogosphere for sure.
MutuaMatheka
What started out as a small-time photo blog has grown in leaps and bounds. I love this blog for the simple reason that I love good photos when I see some. Mutua is a multi-talented guy no doubt about that and not afraid to experiment with his lenses and skills. Check out the shots displayed here.
Media Madness
I read this blog simply for its stories. Gossip at its best. You want to know what’s happening in media? Who’s doing who? Who has been fired? Hired? Drama in the media industry? Then this right here is the place to look for such stories.
Nahinga’s Blog
I’m in the building industry, I find myself drawn to this blog. The writer who I assume is either an Architect or a Quantity Surveyor has taught me a lot of things related to the building industry in Kenya. He has managed to simply a lot of what goes on in the building industry for laymen. Wanna be educated? Follow this link.
Urbane Kenyan
As much as I have not commented as much as I’d want to in this blog, I really like it. The reason why I enjoy reading this blog is that I find the author quite intelligent. Very intelligent. I keep saying I wouldn’t want to find myself in an argument with him as he would beat me 10-nil. I like his detailed posts on whatever topic he is writing about that range from personal stories and work related issues. Through him I’ve learnt about finance issues, SMEs etc. despite the fact that my career is not even along those lines.
From his posts it’s clear that he loves his job, life and family. Check his blog out here.
GreamHouze
The first time I read his blog I was tickled to no end. I’m sorry Gream but your allergy post entertained me as much as I sympathized with you.
. From that day I couldn’t stop playing catch up with his previous posts. He might be a sporadical blogger but trust me, I believe his posts are worth waiting for. One word: Interesting! For hip-hop lovers, this is the guy to have a conversation with. Read his blog here.
Mrs. Mwiti
Mrs. Mwiti is a great blogger! She blogs about things that affect her life and will more often than not, talk about her family, her job and random thoughts. I admire the way she makes being a mother, a wife and a career woman seem so easy. It’s quite evident from her writing that she enjoys her three roles immensely. When I grow up, I’d like to be just like Mrs. Mwiti; a woman to be greatly admired.
Raymond Chepkwony’s Blog
As I said in this post, the first time I came across this blog, I read all the posts that night. Raymond always starts with lyrics to a song that sort of sets the tone of the particular post. Unique. I love the way he has a way with words that brings out day to day issues in a different interesting light. Entertaining and fun to read. As Ray would say, ‘A journey to your funny bone! More than just your number one blog!’ You had better believe him. *Thumbs up*
Those are just 16 blogs that I’ve mentioned.
There are many more that I should write about.
I will feature them on part 2.
You could add more links of your favorite blogs in the comments section.
